Vast and enigmatic, the unspoilt area of Kilim Karst has some of the most awe-inspiring scenery in the region, and is a carpet of lush, beautiful greenery. No trip to Langkawi would be complete without exploring the exceptional beauty of the mangroves where the sound of macaques and myriad exotic birdlife echo through the Geoforest.
The area is also home to the highest density of eagles, sharing their habitat with other animals, amphibians and reptiles. Unlike many other landlocked nature parks, Kilim Karst boasts a coastline dotted with soaring cliffs covered with wild plants and framed by a spectacular natural backdrop of huge limestone outcrops. The limestone, weathered and eroded by air and water, produce the wonderful rock formations, secluded lagoons and caves occupied by stalagmites and stalactites.
An eco-tourist haven of outstanding natural beauty, there is an almost mythical atmosphere that pervades throughout and begs exploration. Kilim Karst has been accorded the Geopark status by UNESCO for its invaluable geological history, dating back of more that 490 million years.
